History – This bottle is 111 of 231 from the 2022 limited-release barrel No. 10. J.Arthur Rackham is the master distiller for Daddy Rack Whiskey Co. J.Arthur got his start above his Daddy’s liquor store in West London. He started his whiskey journey in 1968 as an apprentice for the Camus family. This started a 40-year career of blending and an international spirit merchant business. Daddy Rack (a name J.Arthur Rackham’s eldest daughter Grace gave to him) pursued his ambition alongside an experienced team to form what it is today.
Value – At $58 this is overpriced I feel. Decent quality whiskey that I would set in the 40s range.
Appearance – This nectar is medium copper in color. Displays a unique cylinder base and body with a short neck that is capped by a cork. I like the label because it looks like a ticket stub.
Nose – Initially, there is little ethanol burn for a 100+ proof whiskey. The nose is completed with caramel, honey, and possibly vanilla.
Palate – The heat will be more prominent on the palate. It almost completely overpowers the remainder of the flavor. However, there are caramel, honey, and oak traces at the finish.
Finish – The finish is smooth, with next to no spice, with traces of raisins and sweet caramel. Overall, a fair finish.
Summary – In summary, This was a decent batch from Barrel No. 10. The finish double mellowed does have quite the impact. With this being a Limited Release you may not have the same experience as I did but I would love to hear your thoughts if you as well had Barrel No. 10 of the 2022 release.
“This 118.9 octane was exactly that octane. Other than the nose, it displays its spice through the palate and finish. So, if you prefer your whiskey to be hot, this is the bottle for you. This single barrel does possess some finer qualities as well; they are just harder to pinpoint. These would be caramel, honey, and oak.“
