History – The stars of vampire diaries, Ian and Paul present us with their bourbon “brother’s bond”. Here is a quote from the creators, “Our friendship’s true bond strengthened while drinking bourbon, both on and off-screen for over a decade. Brother’s Bond is a nod to our on-screen characters, our shared love for great bourbon, and a reflection of the brotherhood we have formed over the years”. Brother’s bond has an oath to the earth. Their goal is to help reverse climate change. They give a portion of their earnings to support regenerative farming practices. I find this amazing that they are putting in the effort to make a difference.
Value – For $44 I believe this is a bit pricey. It is good bourbon however there is superior for less.
Appearance – Decent shape, pretty basic bottle. The label looks pretty cool. Possess a light to medium amber color that is capped with a cork.
Nose – The initial nose reveals vanilla, honey, and a touch of cinnamon that is not harsh to the nostrils. Nothing grand about the nose but I will say above average.
Palate – Mild vanilla/honey mix at the start, followed by complimentary oak. What surprises me is the somewhat burn it displays for an 80-proof. It’s quite nice actually.
Finish – After the palate transitions into the finish you really find yourself taking one sip after another hoping the next will be better than the last. However, the hints of spice and oak save it from being below satisfactory.
Summary – In summary, I have been curious about this bourbon for a while because of the two individuals who founded it. Cigar & spirits magazine gave this bourbon a 96 rating. Rolling Stone Magazine (best celebrity spirits) rated it Best Bourbon. Overall, considering the accolades this bourbon has collected it is doing quite well. I’m not blown away by this product however it didn’t let me down either.
“One of the main reasons I knew about this bourbon was because my wife, a huge fan of the books and show, suggested it to me. I honestly didn’t think this was going to be worth my time. I was wrong, it’s quite good actually. With that being said it does need improvement to be worth the asking price mainly focusing on the palate to finish. I will leave you with this, “TimeToBond”.”–Eric Watkins
