History – This is a higher rye bourbon that is made by combining the company’s older age stock with younger barrels to conjure complete magic. Nevada H&C Distilling Co. was founded by Aaron Chepenik and Jonathan Hensleigh. Many might think this bourbon would possibly be Smokey due to the name stating smoke however it refers to old west lingo for the notorious colt army revolver.

Value – I purchased this bottle for $58 at my local store and you can purchase this on their website for $55. I will gladly pay the extra $3 for this quality product. Obviously, we always wish it was cheaper but honestly it’s not a bad price.

Appearance – A very unique design that is pleasing to the eye. The floral that surrounds the seal just set this bottle on FIRE! The bottle itself is dark so it makes it hard to tell the color of the bourbon until you pour that first sip. Once you pop the cork on this sucker you will find it is medium copper. The only complaint I have against this small batch is that I would prefer a lighter color bottle.

Nose – Quick off the start with caramel, oak, and vanilla with little to no spice in the mix at all. This is an outstanding nose unless you like spice in the nose. This is one of my favorites so far.

Palate – Fast-hitting caramel/honey twisted by cinnamon. Followed by possibly almonds. Phenomenal start that slides off too quickly. This would be a great palate if it lasted longer.

Finish – Flabbergasted, is how I felt experiencing the initial sip. An amazing palate that opens with a sweet caramel/vanilla mix. Gradually transitions to quite a nice peppery oak flavor on the tongue, so you get this great oak taste with the right amount of heat mixed in.

Summary – The finishing feature, I’ll start by stating that it possesses the right lingering burn that doesn’t make you not want another sip but keeps you wanting the next one. The very well-balanced aftertaste showcases oak and cinnamon.  Well done Smoke Wagon.

Starting this review, I didn’t know what to expect. I was more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. However, I found from the beginning that this was no disappointment. Great nose, followed by an equal if not better palate that has a phenomenal finish. You really can’t ask for a better product. Smoke Wagon Small Batch or more like Smoke Show Small Batch.”
