“Purchase Penelope Barrel Strength at Caskers Here!”
History – One of the things that people ask most about this brand is “What does Penelope mean?” I will leave that to the website to answer for you. “Penelope Bourbon was crafted and created in a classic American tradition – to celebrate the impending birth of a child. In 2018, Mike Paladini and his wife, Kerry, found out they were expecting a baby girl, Penelope. To commemorate this occasion, Mike quickly realized he wanted to create a spirit that embodied the daily joy of celebrating life’s pleasures – big and small.
Teaming up with his close childhood friend and neighbor, Danny Polise, they set out to discover and produce a Straight Bourbon Whiskey everyone could appreciate and enjoy. A company was born.
Today, Penelope Bourbon is sold in over 26 states nationwide and 4 countries. Proving that with enough love and care, and hard work, anything is possible.” – PenelopeBourbon.com
Value – I have to say that for this price point it is great to sip on without being overpowering. For the value it is something that is what I would say halfway worth it as I saw a store pick for $65. That would be a little high. I will leave more info in my summary.
Appearance – The bottle is beyond beautiful and the name on top of that is what draws people in. With its wine bottle shape that resembles a classier look this bourbon pulls you in for the purchase just to be apart of the experience.
Nose – Very light considering its high proof. On the first and second pull I smell Orange Peel, Prune and a soft hint Leather.
Palate – Thin, mint, pepper, maple syrup and full of sweetness. Very enjoyable and something that reminds you that you can take life slowly and as it comes just as this comes (Slow and Smooth).
Finish – Butterscotch with a medium to long finish. Not as smooth on the end but likely due to its Barrel Strength. Lingering cinnamon even after 15-20 seconds.
Summary – This bourbon tells a great story from enjoying the things in life that are most important to us. What it does not tell is that this bourbon is something that everyone should really have on their shelf. It has a beautiful marketing plan from the name to bottle design and shape. What it does not provide us is a flavor that makes it stand out from its competitors of similar proofs and mashbills.
“This is a bourbon that I will definitely want to enjoy again!”
